TED is a non-profit organisation devoted to ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today’s leading thinkers and doers.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection.

The Brief

The first TEDxLeamingtonSpa event took place in 2015 and sold out in a mere 73 minutes. With talks based on the theme of ‘Courageous Creations’, the speaker videos have accumulated a combined view count of 1,000,000+ on YouTube and are only becoming more popular as the TEDx brand grows.

Following the success and popularity of last year’s event, the pressure was on to make 2016’s TEDxLeamingtonSpa event bigger and better so once preparations were underway, the TEDxLeam committee reached out to sponsors, volunteers and partners for their support. As long-term fans of TED and big believers of local businesses supporting one another, LightMedia jumped at the opportunity to be involved.

We quickly established the TEDxLeam committee were in desperate need of a new website for this year’s event. The committee were restricted to what they were able to edit on the website and it failed to reflect the professionalism and creativity of TEDxLeamingtonSpa.

How We Helped

The key requirements for the new website were that it was easy to use, was completely editable and had impact - so that's exactly what we delivered. The ensured the website has the capacity to feature past events and speakers as well as showcase the upcoming event, theme and speakers for years to come.

The LightMedia team carried out some research and found that there was no ‘standard’ look for TEDx websites – some were brilliant while some were as basic as they come. Some worked with the TED branding and some really deviated from it. As TED’s branding is so widely recognised, we were keen to match the website to it and thankfully the TEDxLeam committee agreed this was the best route to take.

The Outcome

The team at TEDxLeam are delighted with the new website and have been updating it with ease. We have provided full access to the admin area so as the event draws closer, the team will be able to publish news articles from the site and once the event has taken place they can feature the speaker videos for the public to view.
